BHS prom goes digital this month
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Bainbridge High School was not able to offer a traditional prom. However, the teachers realized the importance of having high school experiences and memories and didn’t want to dismiss prom altogether.
Because of this, the school is offering a virtual prom for students to take pictures in their choice of prom attire, school appropriate of course, and combine those pictures with other classmates’ pictures to create a keepsake prom video. The school realizes this is not ideal for students, but given the circumstances, they feel it is the responsible choice for student safety. BHS is in no way promoting large gatherings, limo rentals, or any other expense for parents.
Virtual prom will be held the weekend of May 15, 16, and 17. The City of Bainbridge has agreed to allow the school to decorate the gazebo in Willis Park for students and their families to take pictures at their convenience. Some members of the senior class came up with a theme “BHS Prom, the Virtual Way”, that will be displayed on a banner by the gazebo. A link has been emailed to all junior and senior student accounts where they can upload up to three prom photographs.
The uploaded photographs will be combined to create a keepsake video that will be sent to the junior and senior class. Photos should be uploaded by May 21. If students have any questions they can email Gina Burke at email@example.com.
The school regrets the students have missed out on a lot of the traditional school activities and ceremonies due to the Pandemic. They are trying their best to provide some sense of normalcy to show the students they care about them and are proud of their accomplishments.
Students who purchased prom tickets will be given a refund. They should email the BHS bookkeeper Renee Wooten, firstname.lastname@example.org if they are due a refund.
